He was born in Soutelo de Montes, in the Pontevedra municipality of Soutelo de Montes, on October 23, 1930. He began working in construction at the age of sixteen and emigrated to Catalonia to pursue a similar career. In Palamós, he met Julio Pallí, who taught him the art of photography.[1]

He began working as a photographer on the Costa Brava, taking portraits of tourists. In 1955, he returned to Galicia and soon after opened a photography studio in his hometown. This gave him the opportunity to portray many generations of residents of Tierra de Montes almost anonymously.[2]

His photographs are portraits of individuals and groups at social events such as communions, wakes, and baptisms, but also of everyday activities. Regarding his technique, most of his photos are in black and white, although in the 1970s he took some in color.

He abandoned photography in the eighties, but in the nineties his work was revalued when he was featured in the representation of Galician photography at the VIII edition of the Vigo Photobiennial in 1998 and later at the MARCO Museum of Contemporary Art, at the Caixanova Exhibition Hall in Vigo, at the exhibition "150 years of photography in Spain" selected by Publio López Mondéjar which was in La Coruña and Orense, at the exhibition Al gust de Cartier-Bresson in Barcelona, in Amsterdam and in New York.
