Following in the footsteps of Charles Kroehle, the pioneering 19th-century photographer who supposedly disappeared in the Amazon, Arguiñe Escandón and Yann Gross recount their personal immersion in the jungle, framed by the dense vegetation and structured by shamanic experiences, giving rise to the development of an organic and seemingly unreal photographic process. Through archival and contemporary images, the book offers a dialogue on the representation of exoticism, of the imaginary of the distant. As the narrative unfolds, the authors' investigation becomes a ghostly quest, an experience in which the viewer is completely lost, unable to maintain the observer's distance.
