Submitting your book for consideration at Dartbooks
Please keep the following guidelines in mind:
Please do not arrive at the bookshop with a box of photobooks unless we have requested them or arranged an appointment. We will be working and unable to give your proposal proper consideration.
If your book was published more than six months ago, we are not interested. Around 80% of a self-published print run sells within the first six months.
- We appreciate receiving physical copies, but if you want your book returned after assessment, you must include a return shipping label. Dartbooks will never cover the return cost of an unsolicited book.
- Before you begin, make sure you have suitable images of your book, or a low-resolution PDF, and all relevant information available.
- We receive many emails each week really, a lot and only a handful of unsolicited submissions make it onto the website each year. Unfortunately, we only have time to follow up on books that interest us; unsuccessful submissions will not receive a reply.
- A thorough, well-structured, professional proposal is much more likely to receive a reply than a one-line enquiry.
- Tagging us or messaging us on social media is very unlikely to receive a reply.
- We rarely stock magazines or books priced below 30 €
- We are much more interested in a book's content than in which other bookshops stock it or which awards it has been nominated for.
- April, around Sant Jordi, and December are exceptionally busy. We rarely have time to consider submissions during these periods.
Thank you for understanding. Please do not take a rejection personally. We cannot accept everything we are offered: space and budget require us to select books that fit our approach.
If you have read these guidelines and think your book might interest us, please complete the form below.
Thank you for thinking of us!
