Ihei Kimura’s Impression of Europe is a remarkable record of the photographer’s encounters with postwar Europe and an important example of his ability to transform travel photography into an intimate study of everyday life. Rather than approaching Europe through monumental landmarks or conventional tourist imagery, Kimura concentrates on people, streets and fleeting encounters.
