Initially published by Sokyu-sha in 1986, this new edition published by the Rat Hole gallery in 2008 with a circulation of 1000 copies, is today one of Masahisa Fuka's most sought-after books, a masterpiece not only of Japanese photography but on a global level. It is still curious that after the revolution that Japanese photography experienced in the 60's with the Provoke collective and where some photobooks such as "A Language to Come" by Takuma Nakariha (The language that is yet to come) made a clear allusion to that new form of visual narrative that broke with any style of narrative until then. It is precisely this Karasu or Solitude of Ravens by Fukase that has endured over time, with a classic sequence, we could even say almost cinematic. The photographs are placed on the light or odd page, without changing this position throughout the entire story.
Story that, as the pages pass, becomes suffocating for the viewer, an uncomfortable gaze for the viewer perhaps too close to that of a crow. Bird that since ancient times has been associated with bad omens...
Book is in very good condition, just a slight small bumping ( 7 mm ) in slipcase.
