Carlos Pérez Siquier photographed the beaches of Cabo de Gata-Níjar and the Poniente coast from the 1970s through the mid-1990s. The opening of the airport and the arrival of the first foreign tourists completely transformed the coastline, filling it with vibrant colors and sun-soaked bodies. Spanish beach tourism was entering its golden age. Around the mid-1990s, Martin Parr was documenting the beaches of Benidorm. Years later, each photographer came across the other's work and was struck by the remarkable visual affinity between their images.
