CONDITION GRADES
At Dartbooks, we sell new and used books and strive to find copies in excellent condition. Some books are several decades old, however, and use and the passage of time leave their marks.
To help you understand the condition of the book you are buying, booksellers, book distributors and major online marketplaces use the following grading scale.
New. A product in perfect, unused condition, generally retaining its original seals and packaging.
Used – Like new. A book that has been unwrapped and read but remains in perfect condition, with no damage to its cover or pages and no scratches, marks or stains.
Used – Very good. The book has been read and has no markings, scratches or stains. Its cover is in perfect condition, although it is apparent that the book is not new.
Used – Good. The book has been read and its pages have no significant damage, but the spine shows signs of use. Some pages may contain annotations, underlining or bookshop or library stamps indicating frequent use.
Used – Acceptable. A fully readable book with all pages complete and the cover in perfect condition, but with numerous ink marks and annotations that do not obscure the text.
