In a world of “alternative facts” and “cognitive dissonance”, Turner's photographs explore gaps in information and misunderstandings, inviting viewers into the shadows and obscurities of a familiar yet not entirely recognisable world.
“Some would have us believe that the most frightening monsters inhabit the shadows and that we must remain constantly on guard. I prefer to think that, while always seeking to understand the world better, we can acknowledge and accept what we do not know and bathe in the shadows' calming power.”
His exacting, experimental approach creates a tactile, almost ethereal quality. These are weighty images, often requiring repeated viewing before subtle details unlock their meaning.
