This retrospective of Californian photographer Larry Sultan (1946-2009) accompanies the first solo exhibition of his work in a German museum. Within American art discourse, Sultan's work is one of the central pillars of post-conceptual photography. After making an important contribution to recent photographic history with Mike Mandel in 1977 through the media-critical series Evidence, Sultan caused another major stir at the beginning of the 21st century with his behind-the-scenes view of the porn industry in the photographic series The Valley.
