One of Ihei Kimura's most popular and highly regarded photobooks. With the end of the Second World War still relatively recent, travelling from Japan to Europe was no easy task. Paris was then considered the world's art capital, a city every artist dreamed of visiting.
Kimura made that journey, arriving in Paris in 1954 with a Leica camera and several rolls of Japanese colour film. During his stay, he met local photographers such as Robert Doisneau and Henri Cartier-Bresson, while also capturing the everyday pulse of a city steadily returning to normality. His Paris photographs have an unparalleled colour palette that gives them an almost painterly appearance.
