Joan Colom i Altemir, was a Catalan photographer considered one of the pioneers in the composition of photographic series, he was a character and atypical photographer, after having been recognized as one of the greats of postwar Spanish photography . Colom was relatively forgotten from 1964, as a consequence of the voluntary interruption of his photographic activity due to the demand of a prostitute. The woman recognized herself in one of the photos in this book, which contains texts by Camilo José Cela. The scandal caused by the book and the lawsuit plunged Colom into a depression that pushed him to give up photography until the early 1990s, when he began working in color. This publication is an innovative project based on the close collaboration between a photographer and a writer of recognized prestige, something atypical in publishing at this time. This publication has become a collector's item, taking a high value in the market. A personal summary of the photographer would be:  " I didn't know I was doing social photography, I was looking for images that moved me, although I wasn't always sure I'd gotten them until I printed the photos. negatives. I, like the prostitutes, used to walk the streets. With my photographs I seek to be a kind of notary of the time. On the Rambla there are prostitutes, tourists, criminals, policemen... and me"
