Un pequeño movimiento entre las aguas is a visual diary in which chronology matters least. Its people and places largely serve as metaphors for emotions and lived experiences that mingle and intertwine, offering the author shelter and reunion.
Fragility was the concept from which the idea arose and the project grew, becoming an emotional object filled with photographs and playful elements that invite each person to make it their own experience.
The book comprises foldouts and Singer stitching in black thread, with pockets containing a text written for it by Leire Etxazarra. The text must be sought out within these pockets, which act as "flashes of memory": apparently separate, disconnected phrases that ultimately form an evocative poem open to interpretation. Barrio invites us to sit down with pencil and paper and copy the text by hand, immersing ourselves more deeply in this small movement.
"There is something something subtle
fleeting delicate absolute
strength unstoppable beauty
I close my eyes I see an image caught there on the retina it moves it moves me
I pulse I breathe I grow
filling me drowning me
I am a flower I was marble and now I am a flower
I pulse I breathe I grow
I open my eyes the light the memory an impulse I am standing standing in the light
a small gesture rise come on rise
movement dance rhythm beat water and wind all in a whisper all" —Interior text by Leire Etxazarra.
