This is the rare French edition of Lunwerg with the covers of the Spanish edition, even with the Spanish text on the back cover. August 21, 1968. The watch of a young aeronautical engineering student, Josef Koudelka, standing in front of a deserted avenue seems to capture the calm before the storm. Soviet tanks enter Prague with the mission of restoring communism, crushing the Prague Spring, and overthrowing Alexander Dubček and his new democratic measures, measures that were seen in Moscow as a clear nod to the West. Koudelka's camera captured the tension and resistance of the citizens from the front lines. His photographs were smuggled across the Iron Curtain and into the hands of the Magnum Agency, who would later grant him political asylum.

«I would like young Russians to see their own face in the faces of those who were their parents or grandparents, and do their best to never be invaders again»     Josef Koudelka
