Internationally renowned director Luca Guadagnino and artist Alessio Bolzoni present a carefully curated selection of previously unpublished and iconic photographs by Luigi Ghirri in this elegant volume, accompanied by a range of texts.
Published to accompany the exhibition Luigi Ghirri, Felicità, jointly curated by Guadagnino and Bolzoni, the book offers a distinctive, personal journey through the Italian photographer's work. It ranges from images rich in irony, showing discarded magazine clippings and details of different materials, to domestic spaces and photographs taken during his travels through Italy and elsewhere, suffused with colour and sunlight.
These seemingly disparate works intertwine to reveal some of the recurring themes and elements that define Ghirri's distinctive visual universe.
The volume includes three essays written by the photographer himself, La obra abierta, El paisaje imposible and Casa, puente, puerta, which broaden the possibilities for interpreting his work and offer new perspectives on the infinite potential of photography through a deeply personal selection of his images.
