Halo takes us on a hypnotic visual journey that interweaves human and natural rituals with centuries of history: from the sacred fires of Japan's Izumo shrine to the throwing of molten iron during New Year celebrations in China's Hebei province, and the great flocks of birds that sweep along the English coast.
As in Illuminance, Rinko Kawauchi once again finds beauty in the small details of existence, although this time her gaze takes on a more spiritual dimension. The photographs move between dark atmospheres and sudden bursts of light, establishing a dialogue between everyday life, nature and ritual.
The Japanese photographer accompanies this journey with a poem and a short text in French that extend the reflection proposed by the images, understood as possible metaphors for our contemporary world, suspended between hope and chaos.
