"In his first exhibition, Japan: a Photo Theater I, Moriyama recorded the lives and expressions of travelling actors, as the title suggests. In this book, however, all the photographs were taken in Tokyo. He takes objects found in the world—posters, magazines, mannequins and so on—which others regard as mass media, and places them on his own stage as though they were his own objects. Looking at these photographs, reflections of his soul, makes us realise exactly what we are seeing in everyday life."
